On Monday, the Senate Transportation Committee the 75 cent retail delivery fee in their omnibus bill. Last Friday, Hospitality Minnesota members JJ Haywood of Pizza Luce and David Benowitz of Craft & Crew Hospitality testified on the impacts the delivery fee will have on our industry. The fee will impact every delivery order in the state of Minnesota – from restaurants to retailers and more. The next stop in the Senate will be the Senate Finance Committee.
On Tuesday, the House Taxes Committee passed the House Transportation Omnibus bill, which also included the retail delivery fee. An amendment made changes to the fee, such as exempting businesses with sales under $1 million; exempting retailers who do less than $100,000 per platform in delivery; allowing retailers to take on the fee for customers; and removing the requirement of the delivery to be by motor vehicle. The removal of the motor vehicle requirement may impact room service and we are working to more clearly understand that impact. Comments are closed.
