Steps to take once you've passed the ServSafe Food Manager exam
Applying for your initial MN Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) certification:
The ServSafe curriculum and exam meet the requirements of Minnesota Department of Health's (MDH) Food Protection Manager certification program. Once you have passed the exam, you must take the following steps to apply for the Minnesota Certified Food Protection Manager Certificate.
Designation as a Minnesota Certified Food Protection Manager is valid for 3 years.
- Upon notification of passing the exam, get a copy of your ServSafe certificate. It is valid for 5 years
- Download a copy for free from www.servsafe.com, using the credentials you received to take your course and exam, or call (800) 765-2122 to order a paper copy for $10
- Apply to MDH for the state's Food Protection Manager Certificate within 6 months of passing your exam
- Download and complete the initial application
- Include a copy of your ServSafe certificate
- Submit to MDH with the $35 application fee
- Download and complete the initial application
Designation as a Minnesota Certified Food Protection Manager is valid for 3 years.
Renewing your existing Minnesota Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) certification:
- Successfully complete and pass the ServSafe Food Safety Manager exam with a score of 75% or better on or before the expiration date on your certificate. There is no grace period.
- Re-apply to the Minnesota Department of Health by downloading and completing the renewal application.
